2005 — Week 36
The weather was pretty unsettled this week with mostly
cloudy and windy conditions. A few low pressure systems have moved in
to the coast of Alaska and that's when we usually get windy days up here.
One day was really nice with pure sunshine and no wind at all. The autumn
colours are just beautiful right now and on sunny days it is so nice to
see all the different colours and reflections.
Due to bad weather in Alaska we could not do as many fly out trips to our river for the Silver Salmon as we would have liked. But we were still able to fly out a couple of times and all these trips were very successful with lots of nice and bright Silvers. The rain has affected our regular nearby Salmon river in Alaska as well but once the river was fishable, our guests did not have a problem to catch their limit of tasty Sockeye Salmon.
We have discovered a new Lake for Pike and the fishing there was just fantastic. It was a great week for Pike fishing and we are proud to welcome another member to our Trophy Club: Sascha Winter caught a Pike of 102cm - congratulations! More and more Laketrout are moving into the rivers and many were caught on fly or smaller lures. Grayling fishing remained very good as they are eager to feed before the winter arives. Our first hunting excursions for Grouse and Ptarmigan were also successful and our guests really enjoyed eating this delicacy.
