2006 — Week 29
We caught many nice Laketrout this week. Our guests did really well with flies and caught a lot of Lakers up to 95cm. Our regular guest and experienced fly fisherman Ruud van Deursen was able to land over 30 Laketrout in a single day! Lures worked too but the fish were picky and preferred flies. Pike fishing was excellent with fish up to 98cm and most of them were caught on lures. Surface lures did not work as well as the previous weeks because we had windier conditions. Unfortunately we can not report a Trophy catch this week but many guests missed the magic mark by only a few centimetres. Fishing for Grayling and Rainbows was great with a lot of action to dry flies. The Sockeye Salmon fishing picked up and more and more fish are running the rivers. The story of the week was a Bear encounter at one of our remote Lakes. A couple and their guide were having lunch at the shore and all of the sudden a Moose bull ran right in front of the boat along the shoreline. Only a few seconds later a big Grizzly Bear appeared, chasing the Moose! This is quite an experience and we are sure that the adrenaline was pretty high. Weather wise we had mainly sunny days and no rain at all. The wind was bothering us almost throughout the whole week but we can always find places to fish due to the many destinations we can offer to our guests.Statistics
