2006 — Week 36
We had a very eventful week with the first Silver Salmon being caught and the first successful small game hunting trip. Let’s start with the Salmon; although it was only the beginning of the Silver run there were a good number of fish and all our guests caught their first bright Silver Salmon. Most of the fishermen limited out. It is looking very promising for the next fly out trips, we are now hoping for decent weather and good flying conditions. Our nearby Sockeye Salmon river in Alaska was not fishable until the last day of the week due to high water levels. This last day brought nine nice Sockeyes and the first Cohos have been seen too. With water levels dropping we are expecting very good fishing there. As mentioned we did the first successful hunting trip for small game. There was a good number of Ptarmigan and Grouse and our guests enjoyed eating these delicious birds. Our rivers are getting full of Laketrout and Whitefish as spawning will occur in a couple of weeks. We have seen great action at these rivers, especially fishing for Laketrout. Grayling fishing was world class too with fish up to 45cm. Fishing for Pike was very productive on all the Lakes we have fished. We had some rain at the beginning of the week with light winds, then the next days were nice but the last day was cloudy with the wind picking up again. Overall a great fishing week!Statistics
