2006 — Week 37
We had excellent Salmon fishing and great weather this week. A good weather window allowed us to do three fly out trips to the coast of Alaska for the Silver Salmon. All of these trips were very successful with a lot of bright, fresh Silvers. Imagine fishing a beautiful river right at the mouth of the Ocean with a great view of many glaciers and mountains and catching sea-liced fresh Salmon – it doesn’t get any better than this! Our nearby Sockeye Salmon River in Alaska was in perfect shape this week with clear water and a good amount of fish in the pools. All of our guests had no problem to catch their limit of these tasty fish. Our local smokery now has a lot of work to do. Grayling fishing continued to be very productive and many were caught on dry flies. Fishing for Laketrout was very successful too. Most of them were caught in the rivers but we also had good luck trolling on one of our remote lakes. One very nice Rainbow Trout of 65cm was caught which is considered to be a very large fish of that kind for our rivers. Pike fishing was spotty, some days were excellent, some were less productive. We finally got some really nice Indian Summer days. Only the first two days were cloudy with some rain but the rest of the week saw blue skies and a lot of sunshine. The great weather together with the spectacular autumn colours are another great experience at Dalton Trail Lodge.Statistics
