2007 — Week 29
A relatively unknown fish species was caught during this week. This fish is called Inconnu (means unknown in French) and is a member of the Whitefish family. It is also known under Shefish or freshwater Tarpon as they like to jump right out of the water during the fight like the saltwater Tarpon. We had a few very successful trips with Inconnu up to 30lbs. These fish are concentrated in some areas only for a limited time so we have a real short window to fish for them. They are quite vulnerable and we believe that it is our responsibility to not put too much fishing pressure on these fish. Although we can not report a trophy this week, Laketrout fishing continued to be excellent with a lot of big fish up to 96cm. A fair number of them were caught on flies. We saw good action fishing for Pike and lots of them up to 92cm were caught. Our guests experienced extraordinary days dry fly fishing for Grayling with a lot of fish in the range of 40cm to 47cm. As expected we had very good fishing for the King Salmon. It seems that we are having a good run in our local rivers. Interestingly the average size is higher than in the past, a circumstance we do not mind at all. Unfortunately the Sockeyes are very late this year, we are hoping and expecting to do the first trips next week. The first day this week was rainy but calm. On the next day we had pure sunshine and again no wind at all. The rest of the week saw a mix of sun and clouds with winds from the south.Statistics
