2008— Week 28
We had a very exciting week with 3 Lake Trout trophies, one big King Salmon of 40 lbs and the first Inconnu of the season! We are very honoured to welcome the following fishermen to our exclusive Trophy Club: Felix Mueller (108 cm), Marco Kenel (103 cm), Christian Gisler (101 cm). Congratulations to all of them and well done! Lake Trout fishing is really excellent this year, we have already caught more trophies than last season. A relatively rare and unknown fish species, called Inconnu (or Sheefish) up to 30 lbs, was also caught during this week. They are so much fun to catch, they jump right out of the water when you hook them. That is also why some people call it the fresh water Tarpon. They are in some areas only for a very short time so the window to fish for them is limited. The King Salmon fishing was spotty, some days we did excellent, other days were slow. Not many fish have moved upriver through the weir yet and it probably will not be the strongest run. After we did well fishing for Sockeye Salmon the River rose due to heavy rain in Alaska and we had to stop sending guests down. It usually takes a couple of days for the fish to start moving into the River and settle in the pools. Pike fishing was very good with a lot of fish in the 90 cm range. Fishing for Grayling was excellent with a lot of action on the dry fly. The first two days of the week were cold and windy. During the rest of the week we had nice weather with calm conditions and the occasional rain shower. All in all a very exciting and eventful week.
