2008— Week 31
We had a very good and exciting fishing week. A film crew with host Ray Carignan were producing a fishing show called “Outdoor Passion” in HD quality. They experienced excellent fishing as they caught the biggest Inconnu we have ever seen, a nice trophy Laketrout, many Pike and filmed quite a lot of wildlife. The show will air next winter and we can’t wait to see it! Not only the film crew but also our regular guests caught many nice fish. Fishing for Lake Trout was overall good with a few nice fish up to 90 cm caught on flies. When we had the right weather conditions Pike fishing was awesome, especially with surface lures. What a thrill when you are able to see these aggressive takes very close to the boat. Grayling fishing was excellent with a lot of dry fly action. No trophies were caught but many nice fish up to 45 cm. The best time for the really big Grayling is yet to come. The Rainbow Trout were also very active during this week and many good sized ones up to 50 cm were caught. Unfortunately we can’t report good news from the salmon fishing. After the hard rain at the coast of Alaska with many streams flooded (in one river the flooding even took a fish weir down!) the rivers are starting to settle. A Pilot reported to us that he has seen almost no fish in the rivers he flew over. We still have good hopes for our nearby River in Alaska. The Sockeye Salmon are running in the main River but haven’t moved into the River we fish. Maybe a couple more days and we will be back in action. The week started with unsettled weather with mainly windy conditions. Towards the end of the week temperatures rose and the winds died down.
