2008— Week 32

We have good news from the Sockeye Salmon fishing at our nearby River in Alaska: Fish are constantly moving in and all our guests limited out without any problems at all. It is good to see that the Sockeyes are running because many other Rivers at the West Coast of Alaska have a low run. Lake Trout fishing was very good although we did not do many trips fishing for them. But the ones we did were very successful with many big fish in the range of 90 cm to 99 cm. Twelve year old Roger Blank landed the biggest Lake Trout (99 cm) of the week, congratulations and well done! Fishing for Grayling was outstanding and many fish close to the trophy mark were caught. One day we did some exploring on a river we have fished many times and discovered fantastic pools and awesome fishing. It is quite a walk but for sure worth the effort. Rainbow Trout fishing was also excellent and our guests caught a lot of bigger sized ones up to 56 cm. Pike fishing was overall very good but unfortunately no really huge ones were caught. One day one of our guests played a small Grayling when all of a sudden a big Lake Trout grabbed the Grayling. He fought it for a while and lost it right at the boat. On the next cast the same thing happened again but this time he managed to land the Lake Trout with the Grayling in its mouth! We are sure that he will never forget this exciting moment. The week started with nice weather and mainly calm conditions. Then some low pressure systems moved in and we experienced mostly cloudy days with higher winds.
