2009— Week 24
We had a great week with lots of fish and the first trophies of the season!
Kevin Grunwald caught a Trophy Pike of 100 cm and Butch Balzer an even
bigger Trophy Pike of 104 cm. John Jennings caught a huge Lake Trout of
106 cm (estimated weight 40 lbs). It is an honour to welcome these three
fishermen to our Trophy Club, congratulations to all of them and well
done! Pike fishing was awesome and our guests had sore hands after playing
so many fish. We have seen a large number of big Pike, it looks like the
average size is bigger than in the past years – a good sign of a
healthy population. Fishing for Lake Trout was fantastic too on all the
lakes we have fished. There were not only good numbers but plenty of quality
fish being caught. Rainbow Trout fishing picked up compared to last week
and our guests enjoyed catching lots of them on light tackle. The Grayling
were also active and we had good luck fishing for them. Our rivers are
extremely high but that doesn’t affect the good fishing. The beautiful
weather continued and we had warm temperatures and hardly any clouds at
all. The first three days were very calm but during the rest of the week
the wind started to pick up. The downside of the nice weather is that
it is extremely dry and there are already a few forest fires. They are
all under control and not in our close range. All in all a great week
with many happy faces.
