2009— Week 29
This week was a very exciting week, our guests caught the first Inconnu and the first King Salmon of the season! With so many different species of fish it is tough where we should begin with the report but let’s start with the Pike fishing first: Guiseppe Grasso and Marek Romanowski both caught a Trophy Pike of 102 cm. It is a great honour to welcome these two Gentlemen to our Trophy Club, congratulations and well done! Besides the two Trophies there were many more big fish up to 98 cm being caught. Fishing for Lake Trout was excellent and our guests enjoyed catching lots of them on flies and lures. Trolling was a good method too with some nice fish up to 95 cm. Despite the still high water levels the fishing for Grayling was awesome with many big ones close to the Trophy mark of 48 cm being landed. It is so nice to see them rising to dry flies but the good thing about our Grayling is that you can catch them on small spinners too. The Rainbow Trout were also active and a beautiful fish of 55 cm was caught which is a very big Rainbow for our rivers. On some days we did really well fishing for King Salmon, other days were rather slow. It seems that the run will be bigger than we have expected. They are certainly running stronger than last year. Fishing for Sockeye Salmon was a on and off in our nearby river in Alaska. Not because there was a lack of fish, the problem was high water. We are very pleased with the Sockeye run so far and it is good to see healthy numbers. The week started with beautiful weather, warm temperatures and very calm conditions. The last two days of the week we finally had some rain which was very good for our forests. All in all a very eventful fishing week with many happy faces!
