2010— Week 23
What an incredible week with no less than 14 Trophy Pike being caught! The following anglers became members of our Trophy Club: Tim Drasler (116 cm, 108 cm, 105 cm), John Jennings (110 cm), Byron Raulins (108 cm), Alex Pisc (108 cm), Andy Mueller (106 cm), Susan Bell (112 cm, 108 cm, 107 cm, 106 cm, 105 cm), Bob Koenitzer (107 cm, 105 cm). Congratulations to all of you and welcome to the Club! Tim Drasler caught the biggest Pike so far this season, actually he tied the Lodge record of 116 cm. Lake Trout fishing continued to be excellent with beautiful fish up to 92 cm. Some very big Lake Trout were lost during the battle which was too bad but the angler can not always win. Fishing for Rainbow Trout was world class this week with a very nice average size. There seem to be more and bigger fish in the Rivers than in the last years – a very good sign! Grayling fishing was also very good with a couple of fish just shy of the Trophy mark. We still didn’t get any rain, therefore the conditions remain very dry. Temperatures were a bit cooler, at least this will help the forests. So far there are over 20 active fires in the whole Yukon Territory. Everything is under control and they are in remote areas. On the first 5 days of the week we experienced sunny weather and calm winds. The last days were a lot cooler with overcast skies and stronger winds. All in all a fantastic week with a lot of happy faces!
