2010— Week 24

World class fishing continued with a total of 13 Trophy Pike being caught! We would like to welcome the following anglers to our Trophy Club: Ray Stonge (106cm, 107cm), Leon Gervin (106 cm), June Chegwin (108 cm), Zdenek Edelmann (107 cm), Pavel Kupka (107 cm), Jiri Skala (108 cm), Roman Staff (114 cm), Ivan Milo (114 cm), Vlastimil Vyhlidal (108 cm), Miroslav Mascas (107 cm), Jana Frola (105 cm), Rostislav Frola (109 cm). Congratulations to all of you and good job! 89 year old June Chegwin outfished everybody as she caught not only a Trophy Pike of 108 cm but also some big Lake Trout up to 97 cm. This is quite an achievement for somebody of that age. Fishing for Lake Trout was very productive with 2 nice Fish of 97 cm caught, just a tiny bit off the “magic” Trophy mark. Our rivers have now reached the high water mark from the snow melt in the mountains and should be falling from now on. Generally we expect a rather low water year as we didn’t have much snow last winter. Grayling fishing was excellent so was the fishing for Rainbow Trout. Most of them were caught on flies but you can catch them on light spinners or lures as well. The week started with a very cold and windy day. Then the weather improved and we experienced mainly sunny conditions and warmer temperatures with light winds from the south. With the colder temperatures and higher precipitation the fire ban has been lifted but it is still very dry and extreme caution must be used.
