2010— Week 30

Overall we had a great fishing week with a total of 14 Pike Trophies being caught. We would like to welcome the following fishermen to our Pike Trophy Club: Hans Hammers (106 cm), Manuel Pacheco (112 cm), Alberto Ferreira (113 cm), Michael Roth (112 cm, 108 cm, 111 cm, 106 cm), Tim Collin Roth (112 cm, 109 cm, 108 cm, 107 cm), Matt West (108 cm), Will West (111 cm), Lou Acri (107 cm). Congratulations to all of you and well done! Fishing for Inconnu was world class with many over 100 cm being caught. These fish stay in some areas only for a very short time and then they move on and spread out and it is almost impossible to find them. It is still little known about this rare species of Whitefish. On our trip on the last day of the week it happened that they have moved on and just disappeared. Lake Trout fishing was very good with nice fish up to 95 cm, just a tiny bit short of the Trophy mark. Two very large fish were lost after about 20 minutes of hard fighting which was too bad. It was also a good week fishing for King Salmon. Although we are almost at the end of the run we did really great. So far about twice the numbers of last year have gone through the weir and also about 400 Kings more than the 10 year average. It is really nice to see a good run! Grayling fishing was world class and our guests landed a lot of nice ones in the range of 45 to 47 cm. Larger dry flies seemed to be the ticket for great fishing. The Rainbow Trout were very active and many up to 45 cm were caught. These wild fish are really strong fighters and will put a test to your skills and tackle. The weather was overall great, we had mainly sunny days and warm temperatures. The wind was on the calm side too, we had only one day with stronger winds. All in all a wonderful week!
