2010— Week 32
Our guests experienced a great fishing week with several Trophies of 3 different species of fish being caught! Barry Leigh caught two beautiful Trophy Grayling of 49 cm and 48 cm. Enrico Trumpf landed a Trophy Lake Trout of 105 cm. Like the past weeks we had several Pike Trophies: Josef Bollag (115 cm), Jacob Bollag (106 cm), Jakob Schultehinrichs (114 cm, 107 cm, 105 cm), Friedrich Schultehinrichs (106 cm), Franz Jager (112 cm). Congratulations to all of you and welcome to our Trophy Club! Well, it doesn’t happen every week to catch Trophies of this many species. Fishing for Grayling was world class; the rivers are now in prime conditions, low and crystal clear. Actually they are a lot lower than usual for this time of the year. Lower levels just means that the fish are more concentrated in the pools which makes fishing easier. It is needless to say that the Pike fishing was great with all the Trophies being caught. Fishing for Lake Trout was good but they are harder to catch now as they are down deeper than usual. But besides the Trophy our guests caught many nice ones up to 85 cm which is still pretty good fishing! The first Lakers are showing up in the rivers and it won’t be long to see good numbers in there. Fishing for Rainbow Trout was excellent with fish up to 55 cm. All in all it was a wonderful fishing week with many happy fishermen. The weather was just beautiful for the whole week, mainly sunny days with occasional clouds. We experienced stronger winds for the first three days but the rest of the week it was stunningly calm. Temperatures were pretty warm and conditions are extremely dry. We didn’t have rain for weeks and therefore a fire ban for southern Yukon was issued last Friday. Fortunately there are no new fires but everybody has to use extreme caution.
