2010— Week 33
It was a great week fishing for Pike with a total of 11 Trophies being caught. 6 years old Philip Prueger caught a Trophy Pike of 117 cm which is as long as he is tall! His father, Julius landed 7 Trophy Pike with the biggest measuring 114 cm. Martin Alvin also caught two Trophy Pike (115 cm, 113 cm) and last but not least Russel Alvin landed a Trophy Pike of 109 cm. Congratulations to all of you and welcome to the Trophy Club! Grayling fishing was excellent everywhere we fished. More and more Lake Trout are schooling up in the Lakes before they will move into the rivers. There are a few already in the systems but there will be a lot more as we are approaching the fall. Fishing for Rainbow Trout was good with nice fish up to 50 cm. Regarding guests it was our slowest week of the season which was too bad because the fishing was really great. But from next week on we will be fully booked till the end of September. The first Silver Salmon have entered the rivers at the coast of Alaska and forecasts are looking very promising. It looks like it will be an excellent run and we will be doing lots of fly out trips. In our local River the Sockeye Salmon are running strong. So far almost one thousand Sockeyes have passed the weir which is a very good sign. It is still early in the run but we are expecting good numbers. We had beautiful and hot weather with temperatures up to 28° Celsius till Wednesday. Then it changed dramatically as a cold front moved into the Territory. We had two days with rain and temperatures dropped to 11° Celsius. The rain was highly appreciated although it wasn’t nice for our guests. But it helped the forests a lot and the fire ban was also lifted.
