2011— Week 23

As we forecasted in our last report the ice on the remaining lakes is gone and we could fish all our waters from the beginning of the week. This circumstance was reflected in the catches and we are pleased to report the first Trophies of the season. Three of our guests caught a total of 7 Pike Trophies! We would like to welcome the following fishermen to our Pike Trophy Club: Ken Kingston (115 cm), Ralph Hayes (116 cm, 111 cm and 107 cm), Bob Norgard (112 cm, 110 cm). Congratulations to all of you and well done! The Pike fishing was great on all the Lakes we have fished. Quite a few were caught on surface lures or flies – what a thrill! Fishing for Lake Trout was excellent with nice fish up to 88 cm being caught. Most of our waters are still very cold and the fishing should get even better with warmer temperatures. Generally the river fishing was more difficult as some rivers have record high levels. The fish are around in good numbers but not at the same places they normally would be. We didn’t do much Grayling fishing, so there is little to report about this beautiful fish. Fishing for Rainbow Trout was good and although these fish don’t grow that big they put up a great fight on light tackle. The weather wasn’t all too good to us, we only had one day of sunshine with no wind at all. The other days were cloudy with an occasional rain shower and cooler temperatures. But who cares when the fishing is that great!
