2011— Week 27

We had an extraordinary week with more Lake Trout and Pike Trophies as well as the first Inconnu and King Salmon being caught. We are pleased to welcome the following anglers to our Pike Trophy Club: Chris Ruland (105 cm), Patti Kelvin (112 cm), Doug Kelvin (107 cm), Ruud Van Deursen (106 cm) and Eric van Deursen (106 cm). Chris not only caught a Pike Trophy but also a Lake Trout Trophy of exactly 100 cm. Congratulations to all of you, good job! We had many fly fishermen during this week and they managed to catch several nice Lake Trout up to 95 cm. The Pike fishing was excellent at the beginning but for whatever reason slowed down towards the end of the week. We didn’t catch any Inconnu on our first trip but we were able to land several nice ones over 100 cm on our second trip. We only have a very short window fishing for them, generally about two to three weeks. Still a lot is unknown about this rare fish, and we only know a few areas where they stay for a short time and then they disappear. Our guests caught the first King Salmon of the season and forecasts are looking very promising. It is still early in the run and we are looking forward to see great numbers running our rivers. Grayling fishing was excellent with beautiful fish up to 47 cm. There were also many nice Rainbow Trout up to 50 cm being caught. We have seen many Bears which is also a great experience (from a save distance of course) for our guests. The weather was mainly nice with warm temperatures. It stayed dry for the whole week and this will increase the danger of forest fires. Everybody has to be very cautious with burning. All in all a great week with nice weather and excellent catches!
