2011— Week 37
Our guests enjoyed world class fishing during this week. Paul Clement caught a Trophy Pike of 107 cm and therefore became a new member to our Trophy Club. Congratulations to you and well done! Besides the Trophy we landed several other big Lake Trout and Pike up to 97 cm. The rivers are full of fish now and our guests had sore arms from catching lots of them. Lake Trout fishing was great in the rivers and lakes and many were caught using flies. Pike fishing was spotty, we had good action at some places and other spots were rather slow. It is quite strange to see that the fish were only active in certain areas, but that’s why it is called fishing and not catching! Fishing for Grayling was fantastic with (again) several big ones very close to the Trophy mark. Our guests caught the first Cohos in our local rivers as well as several Sockeye Salmon. We have a late run of Silver Salmon here and there are many more to come. The weather gave us a little break and we were able to fly out several groups to the coast of Alaska for the Silver Salmon. The fishing was fabulous and everybody limited out in no time. With the nice weather the flight over the impressive St. Elias range is an unforgettable experience and combined with the world class fishing hard to beat. We also did a few hunting trips for Grouse and Ptarmigan with good success. The week started with two beautiful Indian Summer days, no wind and pure sunshine. The nights are getting colder and we experienced the first frosts. For the rest of the week we had a mix of sun and clouds with stronger winds from the south. All in all a great week with many highlights!
