2012— Week 24

It was an unbelievable fishing week with a total of 12 Pike Trophies being caught! We are very pleased to welcome the following first members of this season to our Pike Trophy Club: Leon Gervin (108 cm), Rick Linquist (111 cm), Butch Balzer (107 cm, 113 cm), Ralph Hayes (125 cm, 110 cm, 108 cm, 106 cm), Bob Norgard (110 cm, 106 cm), Andy Müller (108 cm, 107 cm). Congratulations to everybody and well done. Ralph equalized the Lodge Record for Pike with his monster fish of 125 cm. After the last weeks flooding everything is back to normal now. Thanks to the great efforts of all workers involved, the roads are open and we are no longer cut off from the rest of the country. Good job guys! There was actually a shortage of food in Whitehorse and the Army flew in goods with two Hercules Aircrafts. With full access to all the lakes the fishing for all species was world class. Many Lake Trout up to 98 cm were caught, mainly while trolling. With all the Trophies being caught it is needles to say how the Pike fishing was… Grayling fishing was the same as last week with some rivers doing very well and others still too cold to produce numbers. The Rainbow Trout were very active and many were caught on dry flies. The temperatures were way below average for this time of the year. We only had one day with decent temperatures. The whole week was mainly cloudy with two days of rain. But the good thing was that we had little winds which made things a lot easier. All in all a great week!
