2012— Week 25

It was a very exciting week with the first Lake Trout and Grayling Trophy of this season being caught. Martine Mouchet caught a huge Lake Trout of 103 cm with an estimated weight of 40 lbs. Eric Irvine landed a fantastic Grayling of 49 cm and Didier Chaudat caught a big Pike of 110 cm. Congratulations to everybody and welcome to our Trophy Club! Not too bad to report 3 Trophies of 3 different species of fish in just one week! Lake Trout fishing was great everywhere we went. Still best method was trolling but it was nice to see that the first ones were caught using flies. Grayling fishing was also excellent with many caught on dry flies. Same was for Rainbow Trout, with the warmer water temperatures there were some really good hatches and therefore the fish were eager to take dries. Great conditions for fly fishing! Fishing for Pike was outstanding too and many were caught using surface lures or flies. What a thrill to watch the vicious takes on the surface! Our guests enjoyed watching a lot of wildlife, they have seen many Bears and Moose, especially in the evening. Summer has finally arrived in the Yukon and everybody was enjoying the warmer temperatures up to 25° Celsius. We had overall fantastic weather, just the first day of the week was rainy and colder. The rest of the week we had the occasional thunderstorm and hardly any wind at all. The downside of the warm weather was that lightning has triggered the first forest fires up in the north. Nothing to worry about as these fires are far away and are not threatening any communities. Fantastic fishing week with outstanding weather!
