2012— Week 35

Although we have no Trophies to report our guests experienced great fishing during this week. Stania and Josef fished with flies only during their trip to a remote Lake and they caught 24 Lake Trout under very difficult circumstances. It was very windy but they managed to land two big Lake Trout of 98 cm and 92 cm. This is quite an achievement in fly fishing! Lake Trout fishing was generally excellent and the first ones have moved into our rivers. There are no big numbers yet but this will change very soon. Fishing for Grayling was world class every where we went. We had mostly fly fishermen and they had a blast catching a lot of nice Grayling up to 45 cm on dries. Our rivers are still high for this time of the year but they are all running clear and are full of fish. One fly fisherman did the small “Grand Slam”, that means catching 4 different species of fish during one day. The Rainbow Trout were also very active and our guests caught many up to 55 cm. The weather allowed us to do one fly out trip to the coast of Alaska. It is still early in the Silver Salmon run and there were not that many fish in the river but our guests all limited out. They had beautiful weather and just the flight over the majestic mountains is a wonderful experience. It has been a very busy week and we had lined up more fly out trips, but the weather was getting bad in Alaska towards the end of the week. So we are hoping for descent flying weather next week. Our guests loved to pick the tasty Boletus Mushrooms, they are abundant this year. On the second day of the week we had very heavy rain and cold temperatures with a strong wind from the North. One beautiful and calm day in the middle of the week was a real treat. The rest of the days we experienced a mix of sun and clouds with strong winds from the south. All in all a great week with many happy faces!
