August 2026

August once again proved to be fantastic fish filled month!

The weather was nice for most of the month; we had many hot and sunny days. The wind also cooperated for the better part of the month. We had a lot of fly fisherman this month and they were able to enjoy the best the Yukon has to offer.

Grayling and Pike fishing was consistently good. Trout fishing as well, towards the end of the month the trout started to move towards their spawning grounds. Rainbow Trout were active as always.

We have the pleasure of welcoming some new members to our trophy club:

Robert 108cm Lake Trout, Dave 107cm LT, Patrick 101cm and 103cm LT, Howard 49cm Grayling, Eliane 102cm and 104cm LT, Florian 104cm LT, Ben 102cm LT, Marcel 103cm LT, Earl 105cm and 110cm LT, Charlie 105cm LT. Congratulation on your Trophy Fish!

Two of our guests arrived in style this month! Martin and Eliane landed right in front of their cabin in a float plane. When the lake is nice and calm float planes can land right in front of our lodge, if not they land at Pine Lake which is just outside of our local town Haines Junction.

Mushroom picking has continued to be successful. Morels are only available in the early parts of the summer but our King Boleto patch just keeps on giving. Our guests had the pleasure of seeing some of the first Northern Lights of the year. As the days get shorter, we will be able to see them more and more.

Soon the leaves will start changing. You can already see it happening in the alpine bushes. Within the next few weeks all of the Yukon will be an endless spectacle of orange, reds and yellow. We expect September to be another hot month when it comes to fishing!
