August 2025

August came and went and with it many new memories and adventures!

Water levels surprisingly stayed low all month. This is the lowest we have seen our water levels in a very long time. We had a beautiful month with most days being sunny and wind calm. The low water levels were due to the lack of rain, the lower-than-average snow fall last winter and the diminishing snow patches in the mountains. Hopefully we’ll get a lot of snow this winter so that the water levels will bounce back next summer! However, it did not affect our fishery, we had a fantastic month with many big fish caught!

We did a lot of overnight trips to our outpost cabins this month. Our guests were able to enjoy the truly peaceful experience of being out in the wild. Our cabins are safe and comfortable, with no power or internet, guests can disconnect and relax to the fullest. This is also where a lot of our trophy fish are caught.

We landed a lot of huge and majestic Trophy fish this month, we have the privilege of welcoming many new and old members to our trophy club:

Chris 102cm Lake Trout, Ricco 100 LT, Przemeck 101 LT, Carolina 100 LT, Matt 105+109 LT, Marcin 106 LT, Roger 105 LT, Diane 100 LT, Bradley 104+101 LT, John 108 LT, Steve 103 LT, Jack 109 LT, Jeannot 105 LT, Claire 103 LT, Kerry 106+106 LT, Jiri 110cm Pike, Charlie 110 P, Charlie 100 LT, Ryan 105 LT

Mushroom picking was at its peak all month. The King Boletos were in abundance. When picked, our guests either dry them for taking home or have our chefs prepare them for a delicious appetizer. Another delicious mushroom that we found and gathered is the Loins Mane, a shaggy mushroom that makes the perfect mushroom cake.

Fall is just around the corner and with it we will have northern lights and changing leaves. Soon our hills and mountainside with be covered in bright fall colors, gold and red and orange. During the early months of summer when we have endless daylight it is almost impossible to see northern lights but towards the end of August, we already had our first glimpses of this astonishing spectacle.

As always, we look forward to the next month to come and to welcoming our guests for their own Yukon experience.
