July 2025

July came and went quickly and smoothly with many happy, satisfied anglers and hikers!

It was a beautiful month here at the lodge. Summer finally came with hot, sunny days that were mostly wind calm. Our new solar system has been operating perfectly, where we used to have a generator running 24/7 now it only runs for about 2hours a day in the night to charge the batteries. Most of July it didn’t even run at all. It is so awesome to be helping the environment and the same time creating a peaceful and healthy environment for our clients and staff.

We had many awesome adventures this month. While at our outpost cabin long time clients Ted and Dave had a neat experience: While trolling they had a big bite and once it got to the boat, not only did they have a trophy trout but another one as well that just missed the trophy mark, on the same lure!

We have the honor of welcoming some returning and new clients to our trophy club again this week:

Michael Pike 107cm, Anke Lake Trout 104cm, John LT 108cm, Paul LT 102 + 100cm, Craig LT 103, Ted LT 104cm, Vivianne LT 110cm, Marc LT 106cm, Roger LT 100cm, Patrick LT 100cm, Michael LT 102cm, Peter 2x LT 104cm, Zdenek LT 100cm, Ivo LT 110 + 100cm, Alex LT 101cm, Jared LT 103cm, Jeff LT 100cm, Grant LT 108cm, Kevin LT 105cm, Ethel LT 100cm, Brett LT 106cm and Marcin LT 101cm.

Towards the end of the month, we went searching for the delicious King Bolete mushrooms and successfully found many. When brought back to the lodge and cleaned up our chefs prepare them perfectly as an appetizer for our guests.

We upgraded many things this month, including two new outboard engines to our bigger boats. We are constantly upgrading things to make sure we stay ahead of the game and ensure the safety and best experience for both our guides and our guests. We also added a new jet boat to our fleet. This new boat is a bit bigger and has better plat forms for fishing. We also added a sturdy 18 foot boat with a  40 HP engine, that we can take to some of our less accessible lakes.

Hiking and sight seeing were at their best this month with the awesome weather and warmer temperatures. With the lodge being right on the border od Kluane National Park we have access to many amazing hiking trails. Included in these trips is a 1.5-hour hike into St Elias Lake where we have two canoes that guests can take to explore this beautiful mountain lake.

All in all, things are going awesome here at the lodge and we are very much looking forward to August and what adventures it will bring!
